Unity in the Body of Christ

Time and time again we read in the scriptures that God desires unity in the church and amongst His people. Just as God has different names to describe His attributes, so the body of Christ has different parts that should function differently, while still working in unity with the other different parts to be a viable and whole being. you can't have a whole body if its just arms or legs.

There was once a warrior who wanted to unite his people but the people were too caught up with their old tribal animosity towards each other. Those people are Cherokees, Those people are Creeks, Those people are Seminole, Those people are Choctaws, Those people are Chickasaws. Why do we want to be allied with them? Who cares if we are the same race of people? all made by the same Creator but with different names. So he grabbed his quiver of arrows and said " Each one of these arrows is a tribe. By itself the arrows snaps effortlessly like a twig, but bound together the arrows cannot be broken." This story is found throughout many tribes because many of our warriors tried to to bring unity to the nations in the face of one common enemy. But lack of unity causes each arrow (Tribe/Church) to be broken.

What can I do to promote Unity in the Body of Christ?

I can begin viewing the Body of Christ as all believers worldwide rather than only the members of MY church.  1 Corinthians 12: 12-13, 21- 25
I can submit myself to my brothers and sisters in Christ. Ephesians 5:21
I can dedicate myself to walk in peace by continually forgiving others. Ephesians 4:3-6
I can lay aside my own ideas and opinions and ask for the constant renewing of my mind to the mind of Christ.
I can be patient and humble, bearing with others in love. 1 Corinthians 1:10
I can strive to be understanding and hospitable towards other cultures and ethnicities, as Jesus was to the Samaritan woman. (scripture about treating foreigners kindly, exodus.)

We are all related, We are all connected, All My Relations

Acts 17:26-27 " From one man He created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided before hand which should rise and fall, and He determined their boundaries. 27His purpose in all of this was that the nations should seek after God and perhaps feel his way toward Him and find Him-though He is not far from anyone of us."
